PRESIDENT’S REPORT North Rocks Carlingford Little Athletics Centre’s Presentation Day is a time for celebrating the achievements of our club and our athletes, as well as publicly acknowledging the fantastic volunteers that make it all possible. Congratulations to everyone on a successful season at club competition and the interclub championships. By every metric we measure, season 19/20 was more successful than the last: we had 471 members, including 28 multiclass athletes. Together we achieved 7,526 PBs, and broke 54 club records. We sent 188 athletes to Zone Championships, where we finished third in the inaugural interclub shield, and were well represented by our multiclass athletes competing in three events at Zone for the first time. Our Junior Boys relay won Gold and the Senior Boys relay won silver and progressed to Region. We had 123 athletes qualify for Regional Championships, and had the highest number of officials representing the club. We had 34 athletes qualify for State Championships, which were unfortunately cancelled due to COVID-19. Congratulations on a great season! It doesn’t happen without a lot of work from a lot of good people. On behalf of the Committee I’d like to thank our Age Managers, Coaches, Starters, Time keepers, Qualified Officials, Canteen Managers, BBQ chef, Team Mangers, Photographer, and Data Manager. In particular, I’d like to thank our Committee for all their work. Although we don’t get to compete, a quick list of some of the wins the Committee has achieved this season:
I’d like to acknowledge the history of NRCLAC and express appreciation for the ongoing support and contributions of our Life Members. Thank you. I’d like to thank NRCLAC club sponsors for their ongoing support:
We value these relationships, thank you for your contribution, and are pleased to have you as members of our community. Presentation Day is a celebration of results. However, it really doesn’t matter whether we win or lose. More importantly, what makes North Rocks Carlingford Little Athletics successful, is the time we get to spend together, the community we build, and the friendships we make on the way. Thank you for coming together as a community. A reminder that registrations for next season open on August 1st. Some groups fill-up in the first couple of days, so don’t miss out. We want to see you all back next season. Fergus Tilt NRCLAC President AWARDS
The following is a list of our award winners for Season 2019/20. We would normally be presenting these awards on stage in front of a crowd, and it’s a shame these club members are missing out on that public recognition due to COVID-19. 5-YEAR SERVICE AWARDS We acknowledge the following athletes for accumulating 5-years of club membership:
10-YEAR SERVICE AWARDS We acknowledge the following athletes for accumulating 10-years of club membership:
OUTSTANDING SERVICE AWARDS It is not only the athletes that we recognise for their service at NRCLAC. We recognise the following volunteers for their contribution and service to the club over a number of years and are pleased to present them with an Outstanding Service (Merit) Award:
In 2008, the McKenzie family joined North Rocks Carlingford, a union that continues to this season. Eliza joined as a Tot, and without a parent to take the group, Russell put his hand up to take on the role of Age Manager. It was apparent from the start that we had a very dedicated and enthusiastic Age Manager. As events unfolded, Russell ended up taking the Tots group for three seasons in a row, with youngest child Riley joining the club in 2010. Russell has continued to be Age Manager for Riley’s group, and is now our longest serving Age Manager. Russell has also been a long-serving member of our committee, and continues to be a powerhouse in setting up the oval for club competition. As a club, we are all the better for having Russell at Kingsdene Oval. Thank you, Russell. Lisa also became a regular with the club when Riley commenced in 2010. From the start, Lisa took on a role in the canteen, and was a regular every week, through to season 2017/18. Lisa took on the duty of purchasing all of our supplies, and co-ordinated with our regular delivery services, including drinks, ice-creams, BBQ supplies, bread, and other assorted treats. Lisa took it upon herself to ensure that not only was the canteen fully stocked, but also stayed back at the end of our competition days to clean and tidy all the facilities at the oval. This was a thankless task, and the club is tremendously grateful for the service that Lisa provided. Thank you, Lisa. As a club, we have been very fortunate over the years to have such dedicated people to assist with the various duties undertaken by our volunteers. Both Lisa and Russell have been great friends of North Rocks Carlingford LAC. On behalf of the Committee, and the Club, it is our honour to present both Lisa and Russell with Merit Awards for Outstanding Service to North Rocks Carlingford Little Athletics Centre. VOLUNTEER APPRECIATION We need a lot of help to run our weekly competition. Whether it’s setting-up, packing-up, raking, measuring, or retrieving, we all make a contribution. The Committee would like to publicly acknowledge the continued dedicated contribution from some exceptional volunteers who go above-and-beyond to help us week to week:
Thank you guys. Legends! MULTICLASS GROUP We’d like to acknowledge our Multi-Class athletes, with their Age Managers, Natalie and Paul. The group has been fantastic this year, and it’s been a real joy to watch them compete each week. A highlight of the season were the events at Zone Championships in December.
