Little Athletics is a family sport and NRCLAC relies on parent volunteers to deliver competition each week. Every person you see helping out is a volunteer who generously gives their time to support your children. We ask for a small contribution back from you throughout the season.
You don't need any athletics experience, and no one is expected to know everything from Day 1. If you're unsure, we'll show you what to do

WHAT WILL I BE ASKED TO DO?
|
GROUND SET UP
Ground Set Up is scheduled by age group. Families in Tiny Tots to U12s are rostered to help set up equipment and prepare the competition area before athletes arrive. Families in U13s and above are rostered for Ground Pack Up at the end of competition. |
AGE GROUP HELPER
Every age group requires 4 parent helpers each week. Typical duties include raking the long jump pit, returning throwing equipment, assisting athletes between events, helping marshal athletes at the finish line, and supporting the Age Manager. These roles are simple, and your Age Manager will explain exactly what to do. |

GROUND PACK UP
Ground Pack Up is rostered by age group. Athletes in U13s and above help pack away equipment and prepare the field for the following week after competition concludes. |
CANTEEN & BBQ DUTIES
Throughout the season, age groups from U7 to U11 are rostered to assist in the canteen or BBQ, from 10:00am - 12:00pm. Your Age Manager will let you know when your age group is scheduled to help. |
REPRESENTATIVE COMPETITIONS
If your child is nominated for representative competitions such as Zone and Regional Championships, parent helper duties are a compulsory part of participation. Athlete nominations may not be accepted without a selected volunteer duty.
A FINAL NOTE
Many parents join Little Athletics expecting to spend Saturday mornings watching from the sidelines. Most quickly discover that helping out is one of the best ways to meet other families, learn more about the sport, and become part of the NRCLAC community.
